It's Thursday: Let's Vlog (1) - Family

Hello and welcome to my first installment of It's Thursday: Let's Vlog. Since it was Family Day here on Monday, that's the topic for this week. I'd love to hear what you think and also any suggestions. The sound is a bit quiet on this one, so make sure to turn your volume up!

  1. Yes! Pride and Prejudice! I actually really liked the dad ... especially in the mini-series. He was just so charming! The mom drove me nuts, though.

I think family is very important in books ... I hate it when the parents are absent in a book because usually they're a big part of everyone's life.

Love the Across the Universe series! And I'm definitely in the same camp as you -- though, I've finished the series, so I won't let on to what happened!

I've never read Anne of Green Gables, and I know that I should! Perhaps that'll be one of my classic reads this year. :)

    Great feature, Megan!

  2. The book I am reading right now, the parents are very much a part of it and I love that!! I am always annoyed when family is out of the picture for no good reason. Like the parents are dead and now they are living with their aunt or something, or the parents are traveling. On the other hand it doesn't bother me when the parents aren't there, but are mentioned frequently. It's only when they just kind of make the family insignificant that it bothers me. Great post!

  3. Oh, I love this, Megan!! Both the vlog feature and the theme that you chose for this week. I love seeing loving and supporting families in books... it seems so rare in most books that I read, unfortunately. They're often dead or absent or just terrible. So the books that aren't that way are ones that really stand out in my mind as being notable.
