Life of a Blogger: Quirks

Life of a Blogger is a weekly feature hosted by Jessi of Novel Heartbeat. Each week, we share a little about ourselves and our real lives so we can get to know the people behind the blogs!

I haven't done a Life of a Blogger for a while now. Oops! This week's topic is quirks. I guess I have a few...

1. I love putting things in alphabetical order. Especially my books. I find it calming.
2. I love baking, but sometimes avoid it because I hate doing the dished afterwards.
3. I can't read in the car or on the bus, but I can on a train.
4. My boyfriend and I have a special voice we use when we talk to our cat. It's not a baby voice, but almost more like a demon.
5. If I'm eating multiple things (like meat, potatoes and veggies), I have to eat them one at a time.

Jeez, I can't think of anything else. Maybe I'm just not that quirky.

Life of a Blogger: Embarrassing Things

Life of a Blogger is a weekly feature hosted by Jessi of Novel Heartbeat. Each week, we share a little about ourselves and our real lives so we can get to know the people behind the blogs!

This week's topic is Embarrassing Things. I try not to get embarrassed by the things I do, but here's two embarrassing things about me.

1. I'm clumsy, which is not embarrassing by itself, but when you fall down for no reason, it's hard to play it cool.

2. I play Dungeons and Dragons. Seriously though, it's actually really fun and I think lots of people would enjoy it if they looked past the crazy stigma about it. Also embarrassing: I haven't told my mom because she thinks it turns people crazy. True story.

Life of a Blogger: Siblings

Life of a Blogger is a weekly feature hosted by Jessi of Novel Heartbeat. Each week, we share a little about ourselves and our real lives so we can get to know the people behind the blogs!

This week we're talking about siblings. I'm lucky enough to have two awesome brothers: Dan and Scott. Technically they're my half brothers, but we're fairly close and I'm also close with their dad's side of the family. They are both a lot older than me (14 years and 12 years), so we're kind of half a generation apart. That didn't stop my brother Scott from teasing me non-stop when I was little! He constantly would flick me in the back of the head when we were driving and once pushed me down, stood on my hair and poked me, saying "Get up Megan! Get up!"

These days I don't see my brother Dan as much as I'd like, since he lives a 10 hour drive away. I see my brother Scott fairly often, since he's only an hour away.

Did I mention they're both cowboys!?

I'd love to here about your siblings!

Life of a Blogger: Favourite Albums

To be honest, I don't own many music albums. I usually just listen to radio stations (online and traditional) or youtube. But here's a few of my favourites:

Garth Brooks - Ropin' the Wind

This is the first album I remember falling in love with. I still know all the words to all of the songs. Mostly because it was the only tape in our truck for a long time growing up.

The Muppets - Kermit Unpigged

I loved this album when I was little. I still know all the words to all the songs.

The White Stripes - Elephant

This is one of the first albums I bought once I stopped listening to pop music and got a bit more into alternative-ish rock.

Queen - A Day at the Races

I'm a huge Queen fan and was kind of obsessed with Freddie Mercury for a long time.

Mother Mother - Eureka

I actually don't own this album because I'm poor, but I've listened to all the songs a ton of times on Youtube.

I love to hear about your favourite albums!

Life of a Blogger: Travel

Life of a Blogger is a weekly feature hosted by Jessi of Novel Heartbeat. Each week, we share a little about ourselves and our real lives so we can get to know the people behind the blogs!

This week's topic is a great one for me: travel! I love travelling! One of the highlights of my life so far has been my backpacking trip through some of Europe a few years ago! It was so much fun!

But I'm also happy travelling a bit closer to home. Last summer, the bf and I drove to Seattle for a holiday, which was lots of fun. To be honest, almost all of my travel growing up was to sporting events (tournaments and horse shows), so that was mostly within my home province, although I did go to a few horse shows in Saskatchewan and Montana.

So here's some pictures from my travels so far!

Banff National Park

Buckingham Palace in London, England
Top of the Oxford Castle mott in Oxford, England
Being goofballs at Edinburgh Castle
Visiting Highland cattle in Scotland
The Coliseum in Rome, Italy
St. Peter's in the Vatican
Paris, France
Playing in the Ligurian Sea at Cinque Terre in Italy
I'm hoping to be able to go for another trip this summer/fall. I'm thinking Poland, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria and Slovania, but we'll see. I might go back to the UK instead.

Life of a Blogger: Camping

Life of a Blogger is a weekly feature hosted by Jessi of Novel Heartbeat. Each week, we share a little about ourselves and our real lives so we can get to know the people behind the blogs!

This week's topic is camping. I freaking love camping! I didn't do it as much as I would have liked last summer (I blame an extremely stressful move in June), but this summer is going to be different.

I'm really lucky that the mountains are less than a one hour drive from my house. Have I mentioned I love mountains! They are gorgeous! And I'm only minorly afraid of being eaten by a Grizzlie.

The only camping story I have (besides a drunk friend being convinced that the thunder outside was actually a giant bear) is when I was on a hike. We had stopped trailside for lunch and I forgot to zip up my backpack after removing my lunch. When I went to put my trash back in my bag, a ground squirrel jumped right out of my backpack and scared me half to death! I guess he was looking for my lunch as well!

Life of a Blogger is a weekly feature hosted by Jessi of Novel Heartbeat. Each week, we share a little about ourselves and our real lives so we can get to know the people behind the blogs!

This week's topic is guilty pleasures. I have a few:

1. Candy and sweets. This is a big one. I love candy! But I'm trying to cut back a bit now that I'm older because all that candy  has resulted in a bit more weight than I want to carry around. But now and then, there's nothing enjoying a wide variety of candies and sweets!

2. Tea. I love tea. I drink a lot. I'm totally part of the loose leaf tea craze. At any given time, I have multiple varieties of tea in my cupboard (and probably at least one more in my locker at work).

3. Buying books. My book shelves are overflowing. I honestly do not need any more books. I think I honest have more unread books than read ones (because I give lots away after reading them). So why do I keep buying books? I've gotten better on this front, but I really love the feeling of sliding a new book onto the shelf!

My bookshelf!
What are your guilty pleasures? I want to know!

Life of a Blogger: Introvert or Extrovert

Life of a Blogger is a weekly feature hosted by Jessi of Novel Heartbeat. Each week, we share a little about ourselves and our real lives so we can get to know the people behind the blogs!

This week's topic is Introvert or Extrovert. This one was certainly easy for me. I am definitely an introvert. I need time to myself and spend a lot of time inside my own head. I'm definitely on the shy side, mostly because I don't want to say anything unless I'm comfortable that it's the right thing to say.

This doesn't mean I don't like people! I love spending time with my friends (real life and all of you online). But I like to have some time to myself and I'm not the best at small talk. Somehow, my last two jobs have involved talking on the phone a great deal. I actually dislike talking on the phone and occasionally completely plan the conversation before calling. I think I end up working in the jobs that I do because I like challenging myself and improving. And I honestly think I have improved myself and my social anxiety has really improved.

Wow, this Life of a Blogger felt way more serious than the last ones, which is kind of nice. What about you, dear readers? Are you an Introvert, an Extrovert or a bit of both?

Life of a Blogger: If You Could Live Anywhere...

Life of a Blogger is a weekly feature hosted by Jessi of Novel Heartbeat. Each week, we share a little about ourselves and our real lives so we can get to know the people behind the blogs!

This week's topic is If You Could Live Anywhere.

My first answer is Hogsmeade! If I found out I was a witch (my Hogwarts letter just got majorly delayed), I'd move to Hogsmeade in a heartbeat, where I would raise Nifflers and Crups in my back garden!

If I'm going to keep things in the real world, I'm not sure! I enjoy everything about living in Canada except for the weather! It was -27 C (-17 F) this morning when I started my car. Brr! I'd have to do a bit more travelling before I'd make a final decision, but Scotland is pretty high on my list, as is my home Canada.

Life of a Blogger: Celebrity Crushes

Life of a Blogger is a new feature created by Jessi of Novel Heartbeat, where we all get to know each other a little bit better!

This week's topic is celebrity crushes. I don't actually have many celebrity crushes, but here's a few:

Nathan Fillion

Source
I'm a huge Firefly fangirl and I loved Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog. I'll admit I haven't watched much Castle, but it's on my list! Plus he's from the same province as me!

David Tennant

Source
Really, who doesn't have a crush of David Tennant?

Freddie Mercury

Source
Yeah, I don't know. I just love him so much. Too bad he passed away when I was 2. :(

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Source
I'm pretty sure I had a crush on him back when he was Tommy from 3rd Rock From the Sun. And now!
