Blogging Slump Alert

It would seem January has gotten to me and I'm in a bit of a book blogging stump. Here's why:

The Blog has Taken Over my Life!!

Don't get me wrong, I love reading! Always have, always will. Still it's not my only hobby. I enjoy gaming with the bf (serious, I just bought my own copy of Counterstrike!) and sewing (new blog here). I haven't done any sewing since I started Megan Likes Books almost a year ago and that makes me sad. Yet lately I've had a packed reading schedule and I started feeling guilty when I would spend my free time doing something other than reading. Wait a second! I started Megan Likes Books as a fun hobby, not as an unpaid job! There I'm taking a step back from book blogging in an effort to re-balance my life. That does not mean I'm leaving book blogging, so don't worry! Instead, I'm slowing down to just read the books I want, when I want, and review them because I enjoy it. I won't be requesting any more review books or joining any more blog tours, at least for a while. All review books and blog tours I've already committed to will be reviewed, although admittedly probably slower than I initially meant to.

I love all my blogging friends and will try to visit blogs as much as I can, although it may be less than before. And the Paranormal Reading Challenge will go ahead as planned, because I love it!

  2. No worries, Megan! I know exactly how you feel! I'm trying to not beat myself up about blogging right now ... sometimes I just want a day, or a week!, to do something other than reading or blogging -- and that's totally okay. :)

I hope you find a good balance!

  3. It's alright Megan! I have a lot of other things to do, and at one point I barely practiced piano because I felt as if I had to read all the time. And then I started practicing at hours for a time, so I know how you feel! :)

  5. I think I came to the same realization as you at about this point in my blogging life, as well. At some point, blogging became a serious chore and I had to take a step back. I'm much happier and less stressed now than I was - only 2 or 3 posts a week and time to do all the other fun hobbies and relaxing that I want! I hope you also find a good plan that works for you and that you continue to keep your blog casual and fun!
